Description

Establishes controls to assure availability of supplies, services and materials at the lowest possible cost consistent with quality and delivery requirements.
Comply with all internal, federal and state laws and procedures in the processing and administration of purchase orders.
Determine potential sources of supply from approved vendor list and issue quotations. Military/Commercial ISO 9000.
Negotiate costs, special terms and conditions, and delivery.
Acknowledges and expedites deliveries as necessary to meet operating requirements.
Forecasts trends in costs, lead times, etc.
Coordinate the disposition and return of rejected material and ensures timely replacement.
Maintain and update approved Vendor List to expand sources of supply. Maintain Small and Disadvantaged business participation to meet annual goal. (Military only)
Conducts visits and participates in vendors audits, e.g. facilities, capabilities, quality and support services.
Actively supports cost reduction programs generated by various functions. Provides ongoing value analysis.
Establishes and maintains business relationships with suppliers.

Qualifications

5+ years experience purchasing in a metal working industry e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Cost Accounting, Production Control, etc.
Experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Defense Industries strongly desired.
Experience procuring complex machined parts.
Ability to read blueprints and experience with mechanical and technical manufacturing processes.
General understanding of business accounting, R.O.I. methods, electronic data processing techniques.
Negotiating skills.
Exposure to value analysis techniques.
Exposure to state and federal procurement desirable.
